GRADUATE EMPLOYMENT ASSISTANCE SERVICES
District of Columbia is one of the fastest growing travel,
medical, legal, and business job markets in the country.
Technical Learning Centers maintains a Placement Representative to
assist graduates in contacting companies in order to secure
employment. It should be noted that Technical Learning Centers
does not guarantee employment upon completion of any program.
The Placement Director acts as a liaison between the classroom
and the employment community. Information on job search
techniques is provided to students during the Career Development
module, based on the current needs of local businesses and
industries.
NOTE: All graduates will be considered to
need placement assistance unless a signed student waiver of
placement assistance is in their file. Graduates waiving
placement assistance may still receive placement assistance by
notifying the Placement Department that they again wish to be
placed in an active job seeking status. Successful job search is
dependent upon a self-confident and well prepared applicant with
a pre-planned strategy. The Placement Representative will assist in
this effort. While placement is not guaranteed, the Placement
Director will work diligently with each graduate until he/she is
placed, assuming cooperation on the part of the graduate.
The Placement Director assists graduates to
find employment opportunities in their career fields, matching
their training, capabilities, and experience. The Placement
Representative is also available to assist in future years when an
Technical Learning Centers alumnus contemplates a change in
jobs. Only graduates of Technical Learning Centers are eligible
for placement assistance, which is provided without additional
charge to the graduate and is a lifetime service. In order to
effectively utilize the placement services, the graduate must
agree to the following policies:
1. A completed resume, in final form, must be submitted to
the Placement Representative upon graduation.
2. If an appointment with an employer or with
the Placement Representative cannot be kept, a call must be made to
the Placement Director changing or canceling the appointment.
3. Graduates must keep the Placement
Representative advised on any change in name (in case of marriage), address,
telephone number, temporary absence from the area, and
employment status.
4. In order to enhance the employment
potential of each graduate, the Placement Representative should be
notified immediately of the results of each interview and when a
job is accepted.
5. Graduates must have the legal right to
accept employment in the United States. International students
are not eligible for employment in the United States and will
